Annual Bloomfield Police Department "Bless this Dinner" Program coming in the Holiday Season of 2008 The members of the Bloomfield Police department started a program named "Bless this dinner" in 2006. The program was started to provide food baskets for our citizens that are employed but having a hard time making ends meet during the Holiday Season. The first year of this new endeavor provided food baskets for 12 famlies. However, this could not have been accomplished without the support from the many citizens, businesses, organizations that donate non-parishable items and/or monetary donations to our Department throughout the year. The "Bless this dinner" program has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years. The staff at our local Pamida store have joined in the effort and provide clothing items and toys at a discount for the children of our selected families. It is my hope that this program continues to grow throughout the years, that we as a community work together to let everyone enjoy the Holiday Season. Scam ALERT!!! PROTECT YOUR IDENTITY Scammers are at it again...If you receive postal and/or email mailings saying that you have "WON" money that you were "NOT EXPECTING" it is more than likely a SCAM. Please contact either a banking institution or your local law enforcement agency before you cash/deposit unexpected money. Remember, If you deposit and/or cash unexpected checks and spend the money then the check comes back to the financial institution as fraudulent YOU may still be held RESPONSIBLE for the money that YOU spent. DO NOT release any personal information unless you are CONFIDENT in who your are corresponding with. Protect yourself, call your banking or credit instution before you release any personal information, its always better to be safe than sorry. Even in this age of new technology, criminal behavior exists even online. Your financial institution will never correspond through email or mailings requesting personal account numbers, PIN numbers and so on (They already have this information). As the old saying goes-"If it sounds to good to be true-it probably is" With the recent storms, tornados and flooding, there will be many contractors in the area to do construction work. please use caution when dealing with contractors. Check their references, talk with family members and contact the better business bureau and then make an "informed" decision. There are many reputable contractors, but there are those that will take advantage of unsuspecting citizens...
